A Sustainability Case Study
June 2010

Around the time we commenced planning on our company headquarters, interest in sustainable building practices was in the early stages of its current popularity surge. The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), then still a relatively new organization, in 1998 had introduced the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification program. Over the years, the program has improved and been expanded. In 2009, we committed our company and made our headquarters building a “laboratory” for workplace sustainability by applying the framework of the LEED program to the concepts already incorporated into the 6 year old design.

YWS America Gets Greener Through LEED Professional Accreditation

YWS America, one of the nation's leaders in leisure design and architecture, is putting its green foot forward as it continues to pave the way in sustainability and environmentally-friendly building practices. Following the accreditation of Tom Wucherer, Co-founder and Principal, and Eddie Cervantes and Mike Stewart, Associate Architects, YWS now has eight LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professionals (AP) working in the firm, with more undergoing the proper training.
