Executive Snapshot: Jon Sparer

Jon Sparer is one of two principals of Las Vegas-based architecture firm YWS Architects Ltd. With more than 28 years of design experience, he is licensed in eight states, including in Nevada. Before opening YWS Architects, Sparer spent 19 years at Marnell Corrao Associates, where he was vice president of architecture for 10 years. His responsibilities included direct supervision for several resorts, such as Bellagio, The Mirage and Borgata in Atlantic City. And he has worked with nearly every major gaming operator, from Harrah's Entertainment to Boyd Gaming Corp. to MGM Mirage, completing the concept design for latter's first Macau casino. He has also served as a trustee on the board of the Lied Discovery Children's Museum for more than 10 years.

What did you do after you left Marnell Corrao?

I took two years off. Most of the gaming companies offered me positions. It has been a fun, fun ride. I was able to come back to work with a whole different perspective.
